Postcard from the Beach

Now we've come to the northern beaches and are staying at Punta Sal near Tumbes, just south of the border with Ecuador - and therefore not too far from the equator.  The sand is hot to our bare feet and I even got sunburnt in the sea because I didn't use waterproof suntan lotion!

Here's another shot of the beach:
And now Punta Sal Club Hotel, where we also send our passengers:
Don't worry; we don't stay in the sailing boat!
Here's the pool:
And the bedroom:
The whole of the northern coast of Peru, between Tumbes in the north and Piura to the south, features beautiful beaches of pure white sand and deep blue sea that stretches through a number of bays.  There aren't even any islands or promontories before Mancora at the northernmost tip of Peru - just beautiful interrupted sand!

Punta Sal is our favourite beach - 52 miles from Tumbes, but there's also Zorritos - just 16 miles from Tumbes.  The water temperature averages 26C (78F).

Here are some more photos:
These beaches are great for surfing, fishing, swimming.  In fact, deep water fishing is very popular.  Mancora spreads along some 12 miles of sandy beaches with powerful breakers and ends to the north in islands and mangrove swamps.
