Greetings from the Lord of Sipan - el Senor de Sipan

We've now taken a three hour bus ride to the city of Chiclayo,  9 miles inland from the Pacific coast, where we're spending a couple of days.  Like Trujillo, it's built in the desert and also has a number of archaeological complexes.  The ;photo above is of the museum of the Lord of Sipan, which had only just been built when we first visited it a few years ago.  This is actually 20 miles south of Chiclayo and is well worth a visit.

This is another view as we make our way into the museum, and these are a couple of the exhibits:

The Lord of Sipan died some 1,700 years ago and, as sovereign, they regarded him as a demi-god.  He died at the age of about 40 and was 5ft 5in tall and - horrifically - when he died his whole household was buried with him!   Here are another couple of exhibits:

And here's a photo of his actual tomb:
We had an absolutely fascinating day here and I'll continue this a little later on a separate post.
